Join us in the MAW!

The Mutual Aid Workspace at Social Justice Center (1202 Williamson) is open! And we welcome you to join us. Check it out, learn, participate however you like.

Join here. A basic co-working membershp starts at $50 per month for workspace access during business hours (Mon-Fri 9-6pm). 24/7 memberhips, organization memberships, and locked storage are also available.

Our governance meeting is Wed. 2/27 4-5pm. Members set the direction of the space and activities, and this is an important meeting for setting reciprocity policies between organizations, and getting into more detail about how we'd like our spaces to be reservable. And future plans for additional activities. Please join if you want to!

12-1 Friday March 1 we'll host Home Room at the MAW. We'll be there to sign you up, give you a tour, and host little discussions about how we can work together.

1-3 Friday March 1 we'll do a Posh Life mini-workshop. Learn how to use the Posh-terity budgeting tool (have a posh life on an austerity budget!) to make your life more enjoyable, and see how we can work together to support each other to make life work better for everyone.

Sunday Skool begins Sunday March 3! We plan to host some kind of learning event each Sunday afternoon and will welcome people to offer their own workshops over time. Our inaugural Sunday Skool event includes:

  • 12-2 Sew pretty things - bring fabric, thread, frames, other supplies if you like. We need to make some more soundproofing and thought we'd make it fun and pretty. You don't need to know how to sew to participate!
  • 2-3 Radical History and Future of Agriculture Free Skool series begins, led this day by John Peck.
  • 3-3:30 mingle and snack
  • 3:30-5 Hands-on workshop - Start our garden project, get ready for Spring!
Plus, founding MAW member Madison InfoShop has already begun a “Reclaim the Commons” Seed Swap! Local heirloom and open pollinated varieties are preferred, hybrids will be “tolerated,” while patented genetically engineered seeds are most “unwelcome.”
All are welcome at all of these evetns. And feel free to email or call if you want more information about joining, or drop in when you see us.
We hope to see you!

Thanks for paying attention,
Stephanie Rearick
